Germany will award 10 million euros to Pakistan

 Germany will provide technical assistance worth 10 million euros to Pakistan for two projects, namely "Promoting Resilience to the Impacts of Natural Disasters in Pakistan" and "Improving Labor, Social and Environmental Standards in Industry textile from Pakistan, "a statement said Thursday.

Noor Ahmed, secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Bernhard Schlagheck, German ambassador to Pakistan signed the agreement.

According to the statement, the objective of the project "Promoting Resilience to the Impacts of Natural Disasters in Pakistan" is to technically equip disaster management authorities to support planning and implementation of development to reduce disaster risks.

The "Improving Labor, Social and Environmental Standards in Pakistan Textile Industry" project focused on improving the framework conditions for the implementation of labor standards in Punjab province, according to the statement.

The project would also support dialogue between state, private and civil society actors and promote incentives and advise companies to improve labor standards, he added. Development cooperation between Pakistan and Germany dates back to 1961, with a volume of funding to date of more than 3 billion euros. On this occasion, the two sides reiterated their determination to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary of the Ministry of Economy thanked the German government for granting technical assistance in priority areas of the Government of Pakistan, while the German envoy expressed his desire to improve economic cooperation with Pakistan in the future.
